The wreckage of a small plane that crashed into a lagoon in Redwood Shores Thursday was floated to the water's surface and pulled to shore Friday, a Redwood City spokesman said.  The plane crashed Thursday at about 11:50 a.m. into the lagoon, located just north of Twin Dolphin Drive, and killed all three people on board, including a man believed to have been the founder of a Palo Alto steel company.

 Two environmental groups are suing to block the redevelopment of San Francisco's abandoned Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, saying a key part of the plan could permanently damage shoreline and wildlife. At issue is a 41-foot bridge that would be built over Yosemite Slough. It would provide a high-speed bus link and pedestrian and bicycle connection between the two parts of the project area.

California court has refused to order Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown to appeal a ruling that overturned the state's gay marriage ban. The 3rd District Court of Appeal in Sacramento on Wednesday denied a conservative legal group's request to force the officials to defend Proposition 8 in court.  The court did not give a reason why it turned down the request by the Pacific Justice Institute.

Update: Three Confirmed Dead in Small Plane Crash Near Oracle Lagoon

At least three people were killed, including one believed to be the founder of an East Palo Alto steel company, in a plane crash in Redwood Shores Thursday afternoon.  A woman's body was recovered from a lagoon just north of Twin Dolphin Drive, where the small plane crashed at about 11:50 a.m., and two bodies were still trapped at the bottom of the lagoon under the wreckage, fire Battalion Chief Dave Pucci said.
